Cricket is one of the worlds leading sports and once you learn how to play, you won't be able to stop.
Cricket is a sport that tests every aspect of your body. It is a team sport on the surface but what you soon see is that it is very individualistic as each batsman is in charge of their own destiny, and each bowler has their own job. That is why cricket is the perfect sport for anyone. If you love the locker room environment then cricket has a great bonding aspect. Similarly, if you love to play sport by yourself then you could easily fit into the team and do your role to the best of your ability.
Cricket is also incredibly fun to watch. People complain about how long it takes, but there are other forms of cricket that one can get involved in. Like in the above picture Twenty over cricket (or T20) is the newest form of the game which has the most money and biggest fanbases. There are now multiple worldwide leagues ranging from Australia all the way to Canada. This shorter form of cricket tends to be a lot more exciting as well -- meaning if you are new to cricket it is something to check out. Nothing quite beats test cricket though...
Cricket can also be played anywhere -- from a corridor to an indoor gym or a baseball field, all you need is a bat and a tennis ball, although the greatest batsman of all time, Sir Donald Bradsman, was known to play with a golf ball and a thin piece of wood -- which just demonstrates how cricket really can be played with anything, all you need is a desire to play!
From my experience, I can only say good about cricket. It has introduced me to all sorts of wonderful people and to whole different communities I never would have known. It is also a great way to release anger -- by smacking a ball as hard as you want. Everyone can play as well, no matter where you are from or what sporting background you have -- so swing by to one of our practices and join in!!
